Reposting this link from the fabulous
Two Nerdy History Girls Blog. LACMA has posted free annotated pdf files online of
patterns from their new costume collection - similar to the patterns from Tidens Toej, but these have notes in ENGLISH!!

1790's Tailcoat pattern for FREE! |
Included are patterns for a men's tailcoat, 2 waistcoats, and a banyan (just learned that term - thanks
Lauren!). I'm trying really hard to be happy that they chose all menswear for this project... ;)
I have heard that they are planning to do women's clothing soon too :D
ReplyDeleteCool! Sent the link to Sandra Altman of Past Patterns. Was talking to her yesterday and she mentioned she's putting the finishing touches on a coat pattern from the 1790s-1800s and I thought she might find this of interest. Can't wait to see what she comes up with. She also mentioned that Hyena Silks in LA as carrying the perfect fabrics to repro this type of jacket. Just thought I'd pass that along.....
ReplyDeleteThere's a dreamy silk at William Booth which would be great for this. Their website doesn't allow for URL-specific clipping, so go looks at "Silks" to check it out.

Oh, I hope LACMA does a pattern for the sister outfit to this men's one - it's kind of my ultimate dream costume of the moment. I'll have to find a picture of it. Then I can use that dreamy silk from William Booth. :)
